The defendants, brothers Eddie Lee Turner and Arthur Melvin Turner, were indicted for armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery. In a separate indictment, Eddie Turner also was charged with receiving and concealing stolen property. The charges grew out of the May 1980 hold-up of Harry Levitch's Jewelry Company in Memphis.
