Defendant appeals from his conviction for murder in the second degree in violation of Iowa Code section 707.3. He asserts that: (1) during opening argument defense counsel should have been permitted to make statements concerning the victim's propensity for violence allegedly known to defendant at the time of the shooting; (2) the court should not have excluded evidence consisting of a divorce decree referring to the victim's violent tendencies...
