BARKETT, Judge.

The wife appeals from a final judgment of dissolution of marriage contending primarily that the trial court erred in failing to award her permanent periodic alimony. We agree and reverse.

The parties were married for 23 years and had five children. Neither party brought any assets into the marriage. At the time of the dissolution, however, the parties jointly owned the marital home, the wife owned a house in North Carolina titled in her name...
