Appellant, Homer Mahaffey, was tried and convicted in a trial by jury upon a charge of child molesting. The charge alleged that he engaged a seven year old girl in sexual conduct in violation of Ind. Code § 35-42-4-3(a). The offense is a class B felony, and the trial court enhanced the basic sentence by ten years, and gave the maximum sentence of twenty years in accordance with the authority granted by Ind.
