¶ On January 26, 1982, defendant was charged in a two-count indictment with aggravated sexual abuse and sexual abuse in the first degree. The charges stem from an incident on January 7, 1982 during which defendant allegedly inserted his finger into the vagina of a 29-month-old child, causing her serious injury.
