BOYD, Chief Justice.

This case is an appeal from the judgments of conviction of crimes including capital felonies for which sentences of death were imposed. We have jurisdiction. Art. V, § 3(b)(1), Fla. Const. Because we find that the trial court committed prejudicial error in the conduct of the trial, we reverse the convictions and order a new trial.

Appellant was indicted on five counts of first-degree murder...
