Johnny Veal ("Veal") was convicted in Illinois state court for the July 17, 1970 murders of two Chicago police officers. Veal petitioned this Court for a writ of habeas corpus under 28 U.S.C. § 2254(a), alleging several violations of his constitutional rights.
