On March 31, 1978, Scales purchased an airplane pursuant to a retail installment contract which was assigned to Cessna Finance Corporation (Cessna). On April 9, 1981, Cessna repossessed the airplane for non-payment of installments due under the contract. Scales was given notice of his right to redeem the aircraft but failed to do so.
