The defendant, James R. Poe, was found guilty after a jury trial of attempt murder, rape, aggravated kidnaping and armed robbery (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1981, ch. 38, pars. 8-4, 11-1, 10-2, 18-2). He was sentenced to 50 years' imprisonment for attempt murder, 30 years for rape, 15 years for aggravated kidnaping and 30 years for armed robbery; said sentences to run concurrently...
