Defendant, Jerry Savoie, was charged by grand jury indictment with attempted first degree murder, which charge was amended by the district attorney to attempted second degree murder in violation of LSA-R.S. 14:30.1 and 14:27. Defendant was tried by a twelve-person jury and was found guilty of attempted second degree murder. Defendant was sentenced to 35 years at hard labor, the first five years to be served...
