Harman was a shareholder and employee of the firm of Johns, Flaherty, Harman and Gillette, S.C. On March 25, 1975, the shareholders of Harman's law firm voted to terminate his employment. Harman brought an action against the shareholders and the La Crosse Tribune, its editor, and its publisher, claiming the Tribune had wrongfully interfered with his employment. He also claimed the discharge violated his rights to free speech and to petition the government...
