The defendant, Ward Edward Jackson, appeals his convictions after jury trial for attempted aggravated rape and attempted second degree murder in violation of LSA-R.S. 14:27, 14:30.1, and 14:42, as well as the 37½-year concurrent sentences imposed. The errors assigned are that the evidence is insufficient to support either of the convictions and that the sentences imposed constitute excessive punishment.
