Defendant, Sherman J. Caillier, was convicted by a jury of armed robbery (LSA-R.S. 14:64). He was convicted in a judge trial of aggravated battery (LSA-R.S. 14:34). He was sentenced to 40 years at hard labor for the armed robbery and given a concurrent sentence of 10 years for the battery.
