Appellant was tried before a Chatham County jury for murder. He was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment. On direct appeal we overturned his conviction on the basis of the failure of the trial court to charge the jury on voluntary manslaughter. Washington v. State, 249 Ga. 728 (292 S.E.2d 836) (1982).
