The State appeals from the dismissal of the information against Patrick T. McQuillen for its failure to bring the defendant to trial within 180 days. K.S.A. 22-3402. The information charged McQuillen with rape (K.S.A. 21-3502) and aggravated sodomy (K.S.A. 21-3506).

The defendant was charged with rape and aggravated sodomy in a complaint filed November...
