Appellant Carpenter was retained as counsel by Michael J. Grassi, Jr., who, along with ten co-defendants, was arrested for possession with intent to distribute more than 14,000 lbs. of marijuana. Hirsch Friedman, an attorney who had previously worked with Carpenter and who was engaged by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Atlanta Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation to work undercover, met with Carpenter on several occasions...
