On April 16, 1981, three stewards of Teamsters State, County, and Municipal Workers, Local 214 (Local 214), to-wit: Pierce Moran, William Brown, and Thelma Haney, received discharge notices from their employer, Redford Township, which informed them that they were being terminated for "activity in violation of art 12, § 1 of the Collective-Bargaining Agreement * * *".
