The appellant, George Kirkland, was found guilty of felonious assault (R.C. 2903.11) by a jury in the court of common pleas. Kirkland was not present at trial during closing arguments, the court's charge to the jury, instructions by the court during jury deliberations and the return of the verdict. He was, however, present for sentencing and now appeals from this conviction,1
