Mack Hampton was employed by Barnard & Burk, Inc. as a maintenance laborer. On January 29, 1974, Hampton was working at the Rubicon Chemicals, Inc. plant in Geismar, Louisiana pursuant to a labor contract between Barnard & Burk and Rubicon. Hampton was one of several maintenance workers doing work on a three story plastics production rig known as the MDI unit.
