GINSBURG, Circuit Judge:

Plaintiff-appellee Peter N. Georgiades commenced this action to recover legal fees defendant-appellant Helen Martin-Trigona agreed to pay for representation of her son, Anthony R. Martin-Trigona, in various matters. Georgiades invoked the District Court's diversity jurisdiction, 28 U.S.C. § 1332 (1976), which requires an amount in controversy in excess of $10,000.
