In March of 1983, Whisenant, a juvenile, was charged in a three-count petition with the murder of Alan Frix, with the third degree burglary of Frix's residence, and with the first degree theft of Frix's automobile. Separate transfer hearings were held on the counts charging murder and burglary. The same testimony was relied on in both hearings.
