This lawsuit is, for the most part, a challenge to the political patronage process for the appointment of county license inspectors for the State of Alabama. The plaintiff, Gayle Parker, claims that she was discharged as an inspector for Montgomery County, Alabama for reasons of political affiliation, in violation of the first and fourteenth amendments to the U.S. Constitution.
