This is an appeal by eight Massachusetts prison officials from an order of the district court permanently enjoining them from conducting a prison disciplinary hearing, and from taking other measures, following an incident in which a male inmate, Justin Gomes, handed a number of handwritten poems, some of them sexually explicit, to Patricia Deschenes, a female member of the prison staff.
