GIBSON, Justice.

Bernard O. Mecier was convicted of first-degree murder on January 14, 1982. A jury empaneled in Bennington Superior Court found him guilty of the "wilful, deliberate and premeditated killing" of Richard Serafin, also known as Reginald Regimbald, on October 17, 1975. 13 V.S.A. § 2301. His appeal from the judgment of the superior court is automatic under V.R. A.P. 3.
