The defendant, Edmond H. Hebert, appeals from a judgment of conviction entered by the Superior Court, Androscoggin County, after a jury found him guilty of gross sexual misconduct, 17-A M.R.S.A. § 253(1)(B) (1983).1 On appeal, Hebert challenges several evidentiary rulings made by the presiding justice, and contends that during closing argument, the prosecutor improperly appealed to the sympathy of the jury.
