The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and Calvin Price, a former lieutenant in the Missouri State Highway Patrol (Patrol), sued the Patrol, the Missouri State Highway Commission, and various state agency officials, alleging violations of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, 29 U.S.C. §§ 621-634 [hereinafter ADEA].
