Defendant Marvin James, a former county commissioner in McIntosh County, Oklahoma, appeals his conviction on twenty-three counts of mail fraud, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1341, and three counts of extortion, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1951. Defendant asserts six grounds of error: (1) the trial court's voir dire of prospective jurors was inadequate in light of the massive pretrial publicity; (2) the trial court should have questioned...
