By notice of deficiency dated November 7, 1979, respondent determined deficiencies in petitioners' Federal income taxes for the taxable years 1973 and 1974 in the amounts of $1,257.80 and $7,087.50, respectively.

After concessions, the sole remaining issue for decision is the deductibility of petitioners' claimed interest expenses incurred in connection with several alleged purchases of silver....
