RANDALL, Circuit Judge:

For his role in conspiring to kill a federally-protected witness, defendant-appellant Jerry Nelson was sentenced to ten years in prison. He now appeals his conviction. Because we find no grounds for reversal, we affirm.

I. FACTUAL BACKGROUND.

In early 1979, Randy Cunningham, an undercover agent for the Treasury Department's Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), began investigating an arson ring in Houston, Texas....
