At issue is, first, whether a signature on a promissory note attributed to defendant is genuine and, secondly, if forged, whether defendant ratified the forgery by failing to take steps to either renounce an interest in or convey out of his name certain shares of stock after learning that the stock had been purchased in his name, without his knowledge, with proceeds of a loan made pursuant to the note.
