The defendant, James Saunders, was charged by information in Winnebago County on January 27, 1982, with one count each of three Class X felonies: home invasion, rape, and deviate sexual assault. (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1981, ch. 38, pars. 12-11, 11-1, 11-3.) He was convicted by a jury of all three offenses, and he was sentenced to three concurrent
