¶ Plaintiff, the former Mayor of the City of Schenectady, instituted this libel action based on an article that appeared in the August 20, 1982 issue of the Schenectady Gazette, a newspaper published by defendant. ¶ The published article concerned the accidental drowning of a Schenectady teen-ager, Mark Vinciquerra, in Steinmetz Lake, and the efforts made at the scene to rescue him.
