Barnabus A. Landry brought this suit based on the Jones Act, 46 U.S.C. § 688 (1976), and general maritime law to recover for injuries suffered while he was working on an oil production platform in the Arabian Gulf. During trial, Landry entered into a settlement for $2,500,000 with the defendants: his employer, Oceanic Contractors, Inc. ("Oceanic") and the owner of the vessel on which he was injured, Tidex International, Inc. ("Tidex"). Oceanic...
