Defendant, Fred Gary Heath, was indicted for the second degree murder of his roommate, John Wilson, on January 6, 1981, in violation of LSA-R.S. 14:30.11. Defendant entered a plea of not guilty and not guilty by reason of insanity. After a trial by jury, defendant was found guilty of manslaughter.
