SAND, Justice.

The defendant, Paul Turnovec, appealed from a judgment of conviction1 finding him guilty of leaving the scene of a property damage accident without providing the required information in violation of North Dakota Century Code § 39-08-08, which provides as follows:

"The driver of any vehicle involved in an accident resulting only in damage to highway fixtures or other property shall take reasonable steps to locate...
