The plaintiff, Rayford Kenneth Golman, invoked the diversity jurisdiction of the federal district court, seeking damages from two co-defendants. At trial, the court granted one defendant's motion for summary judgment and dismissed the party from the action, ruling that there were no material facts which placed its liability in issue.
