Defendant pled guilty, on May 24, 1982, to a reduced charge of attempted simple burglary and was sentenced on July 22, 1982, to four years at hard labor. He was originally charged with simple burglary. Instead of assigning reasons for the sentence at the time defendant was sentenced, the District Court, on August 12, 1982, filed with the Clerk of Court written reasons for sentencing.
