Appellant was charged with first-degree murder, while armed, of James Bowens, D.C.Code §§ 22-2401 (1981), -3202 (1981 and 1983 Supp.), and with carrying a pistol without a license, id. § 22-3204 (1981). Following a jury trial he was found guilty of manslaughter while armed, id. §§ 22-2405, -3202 (1981), and carrying a pistol without a license.
