The issue before this court is whether, pursuant to recent amendments to the Domestic Relations Law (L 1980, ch 281, now popularly known as the Equitable Distribution Law), the court may direct an assignment against wages pursuant to section 49-b of the Personal Property Law against a party who has defaulted in paying court-ordered counsel and expert fees to the other party.
