Defendant was indicted on three counts of murder (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1981, ch. 38, pars. 9-1(a)(1), (2)), and one count of voluntary manslaughter (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1981, ch. 38, par. 9-2(b)). The State entered a nolle prosequi on the voluntary manslaughter count before trial. At trial, both the defendant and the State tendered an instruction on voluntary manslaughter, and the State's instruction...
