Plaintiff and his wife were the owners of a house and lot located at 1750 Reynolda Road in Winston-Salem. Defendant had issued a homeowner's insurance policy on the property. On 13 January 1977 the house was destroyed by fire. At the time of the fire, plaintiff and his wife were separated. Plaintiff lived alone in the house except for a tenant occupying a basement apartment. Plaintiff brought suit in his name alone against the defendant seeking recovery...
