Plaintiff and his wife were the owners of a house and lot located at 1750 Reynolda Road in Winston-Salem. Defendant had issued a homeowner's insurance policy on the property. On 13 January 1977 the house was destroyed by fire. At the time of the fire, plaintiff and his wife were separated.
