The defendant, Theodis Collins, was charged with attempted second degree murder of his estranged wife, Eve Collins, in violation of La.R.S. 14:27 and 30.1. After a trial by jury, he was found guilty of the responsive verdict of aggravated battery1 as defined in La.R.S. 14:34.
