According to the trial testimony of Stephen Randolph, an independent eyewitness to the incident which is the basis for the instant action, he had just disembarked from a southbound subway train when he observed plaintiff's decedent, Joseph Eastman, on the platform. Eastman was staggering and mumbled something indistinguishable to Randolph. Walking past Eastman, Randolph heard a thud, then turned around to discover that the platform was now empty. He looked down into the tracks...
