On February 13, 1981, defendant was convicted after a jury trial of manslaughter, MCL 750.321; MSA 28.553, and was subsequently sentenced to 8 to 15 years imprisonment. He appeals as of right.

Defendant's first two issues involve an unaccepted guilty plea and his actual sentence. He was originally charged with second-degree murder, MCL 750.317; MSA 28.549, for killing the woman with whom he had been living. On November 13, 1980, he attempted to...
