After trial by jury defendant, Jacob Richards, was found guilty of two counts of home invasion (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1979, ch. 38, par. 12-11), attempted murder (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1979, ch. 38, par. 8-4(a)) and armed violence (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1979, ch. 38, par. 33A-2).
