No. 8227SC1077.

307 S.E.2d 207 (1983)

STATE of North Carolina v. Norris COLEMAN.

Court of Appeals of North Carolina.

October 4, 1983.

Attorney(s) appearing for the Case

Atty. Gen. Rufus L. Edmisten by Asst. Atty. Gen. Douglas A. Johnston, Raleigh, for the State.

Rebecca K. Killian, Asst. Public Defender, Gastonia, for defendant-appellant.

WHICHARD, Judge.

Defendant contends that because the North Carolina probation officer testified entirely on the basis of a report prepared by a Maryland probation officer, he was denied his Sixth Amendment right to cross-examine a witness against him. He also contends the Maryland report was inadmissible hearsay.

In a probation revocation hearing the court is not bound by strict rules of evidence. State v. Duncan, 270 N.C. 241
