WILNER, J., delivered the opinion of the Court.

In the late evening hours of March 30, 1980 (or the early morning hours of March 31) John Surderski was shot to death. Someone fired nine or ten bullets from a .22 caliber rifle into his trailer, two of which struck him in the head.
