This is an original action for mandamus. The plaintiff was serving a sentence for third-degree criminal sexual conduct, MCL 750.520d; MSA 28.788(4), when, on May 25, 1980, he escaped from a minimum security farm. On August 18, 1981, plaintiff was apprehended and returned to custody. On August 27, 1981, plaintiff was given a hearing conducted by a hearings officer of the Department of Corrections on a misconduct charge, viz., prison escape. The hearings...
