This is a defamation case that arose out of the dismissal of Roxie Massie from her job as a waitress at a Carlisle restaurant in December 1981. After her dismissal Massie filed for unemployment compensation benefits at the Pennsylvania Office of Employment Security. That office found Massie eligible for benefits on February 3, 1982.
