DOUGLAS, J.

The defendant was tried and convicted by a jury in Superior Court (Goode, J.) of first-degree assault, RSA 631:1 (Supp. 1981), and sentenced to an extended term of ten to thirty years in the State prison. RSA 651:6. He appeals his conviction, alleging that the admission into evidence of statements made by him while in police custody was reversible error. We reverse.
